JapanYamaha YZ490
The YZ490 is the kind of motorcycle that still makes grown men speak in a lower voice. The KX500 and CR500 get all the love, and rightfully so, but these were a different kind of crazy—rawer, stranger, a little more feral around the edges. This is big-bore two-stroke lunacy from a time when manufacturers were still willing to sell motorcycles that felt like open acts of aggression. It is not refined, not polite, and certainly not interested in your comfort. It wants open ground, strong hands, and a rider who understands that fear and joy are sometimes the same flavor. Seeing one just sitting on Craigslist for $5,500 feels less like shopping and more like finding a lit stick of dynamite in the bargain bin.
